Our dining room has been a half empty/mini storage area ever since we moved in. I knew from the get go that I wanted to make our dining room table but wasn’t 100% certain what I wanted it to look like. I knew I wanted hairpin legs and I originally wanted it to look like an old door. I pinned dozens of tables and finally decided to go with one very similar to Elsie’s from A Beautiful Mess, with only two modifications, thickness and color.
We decided that we would like to host Thanksgiving dinner at our home this year and offered to do so without a table to eat at. This was just what we needed to jumpstart our dining room table project.
This was a really labor intensive project. I went into thinking it would be simple but our friend who makes cabinets gave us some pointers which added to the amount of hours that went into the build but in the end turned it from a kind of simple DIY project to a real deal furniture making experience.
We have hours of work into this table, it will hopefully be around for a very, very long time.
